Dogs Love Waffles

By Joyce K. Schwartze and Chrissy McDaniel | Illustrated by Monika Marzec

What do you get when you mix a determined dogs and a golden stack of waffles for a family breakfast. Pure breakfast-time brilliance.

In Dogs Love Waffles, Joyce K. Schwartze and Chrissy McDaniel serve up a delightfully silly story that proves dogs have strong opinions about breakfast - especially when waffles are on the menu. From the very first page, kids will giggle at the waffle-obsessed German shepherds on a mission to snag the perfect bite. The language is playful, the rhythm is lively, and the whole experience is sticky-sweet in the best way.

And yes - I had the absolute joy of illustrating this book! Bringing these breakfast-loving pups to life was a treat in itself (no syrup stains were involved… maybe just a few crumbs).

Even better? A new book by Joyce and me is already in the works! No spoilers yet, but if you loved this one - stay tuned.

“Perfect for giggly breakfast readers.” — Reader Review

Katie Weaver’s witty, rhythmic writing captures the hilarious absurdities a pet might endure living with kids—and turns them into a sweet, chaotic celebration of family life.

Caner Soylu’s illustrations steal the show. Each spread explodes with expressive animals, dynamic scenes, and perfectly-timed visual punchlines. The book is clever, funny, and the dog’s perspective is just perfect - ideal for storytime laughs and rereads galore.
