About Monika

Monika Marzec is an author and self-taught illustrator from a small town in southern Poland. She creates whimsical, playful stories inspired by her curious daughter, her students, and her love of language and travel. Monika teaches English and Spanish, and has studied in Dublin, Toledo, Madrid, and Cairo -experiences that deeply shaped her creative voice and cultural perspective.

Her illustrations are mostly digital, though she also enjoys drawing traditionally. She puts her heart into every piece, using natural colours and a warm, magical style that resonates with children and adults alike. Her work has been recognised internationally, leading to successful collaborations with authors around the world.

When she’s not working on picture books, Monika finds inspiration in exploring new places, learning about different traditions, and sharing the joy of storytelling.
